Dinner at Lerk Thai!

As usual, it always has to be me thinking what to have for dinner.
So this time round, I've chose Lerk Thai at Civics Centre for a fast dinner.

And every time we patronize a Thai restaurant, there would always be snacks like this to make us happy and go gaga before the main course is being served.

And they come with their famous sweet spicy sauce as usual.

Lemon Grass drink. The first mouth tasted a little weird, but after a while, this tasted a little refreshing. Lemon grass drink is also sweet and this jar is able to pour exactly 2 cups! (:

Whats Thai cuisine without Tom Yam soup? I'm definitely not a fan of spicy dishes, but this is really good! (: A tinge of spicyness and sweetness, yumms! If my memory didnt fail me, I think you are able to get them to change to chicken or fish, but with that change they might ask you to top up a little. (:

Yummy prawns and sotong, fresh too! (:

And because both of us are not that hungry, so we only ordered one pineapple rice, which cost only SGD$5.90 for this! (: I think this is really worth the price.

With the cashew nuts as toppings, it adds on another different taste! (:

We also ordered toufu as side dish! Okay, I'm a person who loves toufu! But in my opinion, this dish is a little too oily for my liking, but other thn that the toufu was really soft and taste really good! Again, this dish comes with another spicy sweet sauce for us to dip into! (:

Lastly we ordered fried spring chicken. Not a fan of fried chicken, esp when these chickens comes with bones. LOL! as usual this dish is a little too oily for my liking. The only parts that I usually eat was only the breast meat. Apart from that, the rest are rather oily. So this is not recommended if you are not a chicky fan =D

Overall, Ive yet to try their desserts, but I will someday!
But anyway, apart from that, the rest of the dishes are pretty acceptable. Nothing special abt it.
If you are asking me if i would head back for another try, I might only go back for their pineapple rice and tomyam soup! (: The rest are just mehh.

Nandoos

Despite the heavy rain on Sunday, we had to beat the rain and drive down Plaza Sing for my IPL Appt. So because of that we manage to beat the shopping crowd somehow, but still we still see people queuing up for the famous Michlin - Tim Ho Wan. Gonna try that someday when I've got the time to head down to join in the queue. hahah!

But anyway, I've manage to push forward my IPL timing from 620pm to 5pm! (:
I feel so happy abt that! Which means, we will be able to head home to rest more! =D
So because my appt ended earlier, we had time to think of what to eat for dinner. Searching for something reasonable and cheap! =D

So Nandos hit my mind, at first the boyfriend was rather reluctant to give that a try, but after a while, he gave in! =D haaah!
There wasnt any queue at the moment we headed, because it was still early, but soon enough, more people came and seated and the restaurant was filled rather fast.

This wasnt the first time i head to Nandos for dinner, the very first time was with my baby girls - Whee and Estee. But still, we got no idea what to order for dinner. So we just make do with the basics! (:

On a side note, I love how colorful the menus are! (: One thing that attracts me most was the resturants menu! haaa! Call me weird.

Oh yes, did i also mention, Nando was actually a Portuguese restaurant and they food consist of mainly chickens! hahah!

They had this spicy level which you could choose from. Because I'm someone who doesnt take spicy, so i make do with the Mild Peri-Peri! (:

A little story line they had (:

Heres the drinks menu (:
The reason why I took a shot of this drink menu was their drinks are rather unique.
The boyfriend took Sparkling Apple while I had Citrus Bliss. I forgot to take a picture of the drinks thou! LOL!. But I suppose Sparkling Apple needs no introduction, just some soda with apple syrup. While mine was a little unique, consist of mint, grapefruit syrup and sprite soda!

It tasted like bubble gum, like those normal minty bubble gums you bought! LOL! Not really my cup of tea, but the taste was relatively alright. (:

They had different levels of spicy sauce for you to dip into too! (:
The ones I put was this Garlic Peri Peri, a little tinge of spicyness tgt with garlic taste.
But its was a little salty for my tastebud LOL!

And they had normal tomato sauce too!

The spicy sauce, Hot Peri-Peri and Extra Hot Peri Peri!
Oh well, didnt try those, because my spicy intake isnt really that awesome. But the boyfriend tried.
He mentioned, its a little empty in the taste. Spicy but yet the spice taste isnt in.

I love this sauce holder LOL! (: Check out the chilli logo?
And the boyfriend behind playing his game! LOL!

In fact the atmosphere was fine (: A little unique in their decors, and dim lighting.

Here comes our mains! (:
Because we had no idea what was good, we go for the basics, 1/4 chicken! (:
for the price we paid, it comes with 2 side dishes of you choice.

The boyfriend choose corn in cob and coleslaw.

While i had potato wedges and coleslaw.

The taste of the chicken was rather surprising! (: Because I had chicken breast while the boyfriend had the drums. the chicken breast was rather tender and juicy! In fact, no sauce is needed. Because remember I choose Mild Peri-peri from the start? Yes, the taste got into the chicken! (: And i love it because firstly, it wasnt too spicy! But just a little salty! (:

The Coleslaw was good! Fresh and it was slightly different from the ones we had outside. The veges are extremely crunchy and makes you want to have more! (:

Took a bite a the boyfriend's corn, that didnt surprise me that much! It wasnt as juicy as the ones we had in Astons, but the margainated in this special sauce which makes the corn looks much more sppealing (: And taste wise, it was quite okay.

Our verdict, we would head down again for dinner if we had got no idea what to eat.!
But because we do not really go for salty stuff, so this may be one of the reason why we might not head back again. Overall, the experience was good! (: And the place was really good for gathereings and chit chat sessions.

Overall rating:6/10
Total Spending: SGD$45 for 2 pax

Sometimes...

Ever since i've started working for so long, for the first time, I felt angry and yet 'pity' for the boss's son, Mr A. For what ever reason, he may be an asshole at work, but at home, I could totally understand when he doesnt have a place to stand or even sit maybe?

Firstly his dad gave in so much, because of the grandson? And whats more his younger brother. But now,  even the wife is taking over the talking. Becoming more and more disrespectful towards her MIL? Oh well, is there a way of solving such issues? Theres a saying in chinese, every family has gotten their problems. But how can we make this issue small or even make it none?

There are a lot of things in which, only the outsiders could see and not those who appear in the portrait itself. Like I've said, as an outsider, we could only see and mayb comment it among ourselves, but i guess no one would be daring enough to say it in front of the main actors/actress right?

Ever since young, I'm always someone who needs company, be it heading out for lunch or anything, except going to toilets and shopping of cuz. But something abt me would be, I have no idea why, or was it just all of us or just me, I always felt sad whenever I see people heading out for a meal on their own. Especially those elderly, when they are already at such old age, and seeing them eating alone in coffee shop. I always tell myself, if theres a day where Ive got to end up dining myself, I would either take away home or even take away and go to somewhere where people cant spot me (Or at least min amt of people ard). Dont ask why, thats just me.

Likewise, when I've seen that Mr A bought his breakfast from the coffee shop downstairs, and head up into the office, I could totally feel that probably he would feel much more happier when he's at work! LOL! Okay, mayb i'm just thinking too much. Shall give them the benefit of doubt.

oh well, shall skip such upset post! LOL! Back to reality, I'll be heading back to school for a one year degree again. Gonna try to change into Marketing, but oh well, hopefully I would be better in this? Anyway, I'm not too sure either. Gonna start the first module with Business Law and heard its not going to be an easy module and it's something that I hate most! Seriously Law?! Is there a link in law and business? Oh well, just accept that fact thn! ):

Hoshigaoka Japanese Restaurant

I suppose this isnt the first time I'm blogging about this Japanese Restaurant.

Here's a little history about Restaurant Hoshigaoka.
This restaurant was first opened in Singapore at Apollo Hotel back in 1972 and was initially named as Hoshigaoka Saryo which was brought from Japan with their traditional Japanese cooking together with their culinary tastes, sumptuous dishes as well as trademark of Japanese Hospitality. In order to appeal to the broader market, Hoshigaoka Saryo was being renamed as Restaurant Hoshigaoka in 1986.

Restaurant Hoshigaoka was a family Japanese restaurant which was since brought over by JP Pepperdine, the owner of Jack's Place, Eatzi Gourmet and Brewbaker’s kitchen & bar.
Now, Restaurant Hoshigaoka has 3 outlets in Singapore, located at Isetan Scotts (#4-00), Eastpoint Mall (#03-14) as well as Woodlands Civic Centre (#02-05)

Whenever, the boyfriend and I ran out of ideas what to have for dinner / lunch, we will always head down for their lunch as it was just 10mins away from the boyfriend's place. With their affordable price, they are still able to come up with such good food, I really think its worth going back over and over again.

Even thou the sushi in this restaurant might cost a bomb, but this sushi are not the reason why i choose to head down for lunch / dinner. Also, with the stiff competition with Sakae Sushi just at level 1, I was telling boyfriend that this might close down. But not quite true after i've tried Sakae Sushi over at the outlet at Civics.

Okay, this time round, they boyfriend ordered his usual dish - Beef Shabu Shabu.
They comes with chicken too! (In case you are not a beef lover). But no joke, their beef was really fresh and tender. But of cuz, this would also depends on how you cook them in this mini hot pot! (:

They always comes with huge mushrooms which I totally love.
The broth of this Shabu Shabu is slightly salty and less sweet as compare to Sukiyaki! So for those who love eating Sukiyaki, you shld really give this a try! (:

Check out the beef! Okay, Sorry for the filter that I've done!
But the redness of the meat would somehow show that the beef is fresh, not quite sure if this is true thou, but someone told me this before.

This is the sauce that comes together with the boyfriend's dish! (:
Called the salty sauce! LOL!

Next up would be mine! (:
This time round, I intended to try something different.
Because whenever I head there for meals, I couldnt decide what I want to order for myself LOL!
So this time I've tried their Katsu Don.
I was never a fan of porky!
But this is really good!
It doesnt comes with that porky smell, and when they fry the eggs tgt with the onions!
Slurp! Makes me hungry for food again! =D
The meat was tender, and the onions could do the job to give u more flavouring. (:
Would definitely head down to try more of their dishes and do a more detailed post up! LOL!
But overall, the atmosphere and also the food is really worth the visit! (:

Do give it a try, and you might soon fall in love with them (:

Brother's POP

Starting my Saturday with the brother's POP.
After being in the army for 2 mths, i hope he has grown to be slightly mature.
But somehow I dont seem that way! LOL! But for any reason, he is still my baby brother.
The one who always asked me to head out for jogs, the one who always fight with me since young.

Oh yea, my bro is in army now. How time flies.
The Saturday weather was slightly humid, mommy drove down to Marina Bay floating platform to attend bro's graduation from Tekong. LOL! But I love being in town, seeing such nice scenery, somehow makes my day a better one (:
The banner that shows BMY Graduation Parade.

A little booklet that comes with the Parade Sequence. Quite a good brochures i would say.
Pretty front cover showing how the boys graduate from their BMT.

Another view showing the helix bridge which links to MBS. Dark clouds covering almost half of that area. LOL!

Another view showing the other end of Esplanade. Pretty place and feeling calm! (:
And the boys started marching in in groups/batches. There were at least 2000 people marching towards that soccer court given that there were 100 people in a company! LOL!. So all of us were in fact trying to search for my little brother from far! LOL! and this is the best my camera could zoom!

Slowly forming in their position.

And soon after all were done! (: It was such a pleasant sight. In fact, I actually love looking at contingents marching ard! But this sight could only be seen during National Days.! Ever since i've joined the uniform group back in Secondary school, I always find marching contingents so suave and so cool! (: Btw i've always been in Girls' Brigade and till now I've not regretted joining them, but oh well, i do regret not performing well during those days.

Siren came which means the boys had to remove all the their barang barangs to get ready and be at east.

And here they welcome the arrival of Chief of Army Mr Ravinder Singh.

And after which they had awards presentation for the best recruits, those guys in berate are their instructors. Quite cool huh? (:

After their award presentation, they were getting ready to march off, and prepare for their second march in! (:

Slowly they march pass the reviewing officer, Ms Ellen Lee (The chairman for Defence and Foreign affairs).

And accompanied by their military band which consists of full time recruits! (: I dont deny, they really play very well! (: Mayb because i've always been a fan of musicals and bands but never once i've tot of joining band! hahaha!

After which, the boys enter for their second march in! They have already return their riffles and came out with a lighter loot! (: But still with that tortoise shell bag!

Back in their new formation, but the brother is still in the same place! (:

Them doing their BMT Roar! Weird but okay, its their cheer!

And off they take their army pledge and also singing of National Anthem. Which followed by tossing of their cap and dismiss! I didnt manage to capture the image of them tossing their cap! but it all happened too fast! =D

And them giving each other huggies for the effort they have put thru this 2 mths.
It has somehow become a place where they met good buddies and in the end, being lead to different units which they soon learn new skills.

This is my brother! Check out his super shag face! But hey, i think he looks good here! Hhahaa! They actually had another individual shot which was taken and it looks really awesome!
Sometimes i just feel so proud for my brother!

And a shot taken with my mom!

And with mom and me, to end the day!.

The boys ended their BMT with a 24km march, which baby brother mentioned they started since 7pm the day before! It was all hard work but hopefully this will make them grow! (:24km road march isnt easy at all! In the past, during my GB days, i walked a 10km walk from Changi to Pasir Ris and I almost died! LOL! So kudoos to them! (:

You know your effort paid off!

Drop me an email at jessicilious@gmail.com if you have any enquiries! (:

Thursday, 11 April 2013

Oh so random post!

This week passes quickly, with a blink of an eye, its Thursday!
And friday is just a few hours away!

And dearest brother is coming back this weekend for the whole week!
Because he just graduated from his BMT. LOL!

But anyway, not looking for ward to Saturday so much. Firstly because i hasnt been sleeping well, and have been feeling trouble abt everything thats happening.
Secondly, i've got to wake up early, to head down to the bro's POP which wasnt something that I've been looking forward to, esp when i've been lacking my sleep this week.

But anyway, all this shall be kept in view, shall see yours truly's mood before i made up my mind to go or not to.

The boyfriend and I came by this showroom at HDB hub when we were on our way for lunch at Toa Payoh. Came by this huge mirror and guess what usually girls will do! LOL!
Self shot! =D

This is a 2 Room flat btw! But somehow i pretty much love this mirror concept in this show room! hahah!

Oh yea, and Im pretty much counting down to the Batam trip this month end!
And hoping much that that irritating friend of the boyfriend doesnt irks me much! Otherwise, I might seriously do something abt it before he does them lol!
